How to organize PDF pages

  1. 1

Drop a PDF on the box. Every page appears as a thumbnail, numbered in its current order.

  2. 2

Drag pages into a new order. On a phone, drag by the grip in the corner of a page, or select pages and use Move left and Move right.

  3. 3

Select pages to rotate or delete them, and add pages from another PDF if you need to. Every change can be undone.

  4. 4

Click Download. The reorganized PDF downloads straight away; your original stays as it was.

Features

  • Never uploaded

Pages are rearranged by your browser on your device, so private scans and contracts are never sent anywhere.

  • Drag, rotate, delete

Move one page or a whole selection at once, turn sideways scans, and remove pages you do not need, all in one place.

  • Mix pages from several PDFs

Add another PDF and its pages slot in after your selection, ready to drag into place among the others.

  • Undo and keyboard

Undo any step with Ctrl+Z. Every action works from the keyboard as well as with a mouse or a finger.

Tidying up a scanned document

Scanners and phone apps are where messy PDFs come from: a page fed in sideways, a blank back side, a sheet that went through twice, or a stack scanned in the wrong order. All of these are fixed in one pass here, and you see the result on the thumbnails before you download anything.

The double-sided scan, step by step

Many office scanners only scan one side at a time. To copy a three-sheet, double-sided document, you scan the fronts (pages 1, 3 and 5), turn the stack over and scan again. Because the stack is flipped, the backs come out last page first: 6, 4, 2. The PDF now reads 1, 3, 5, 6, 4, 2. Interleave, backs last-to-first takes the first half and the second half in turns, reading the second half from the end, and gives 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. If your scanner kept the backs in order (1, 3, 5, 2, 4, 6), use Interleave, backs in order. Check the first few thumbnails, and undo if it isn't right.

What the new PDF keeps

Pages are copied rather than redrawn, so the text stays selectable, links to websites still work and images keep their quality. The bookmarks panel isn't copied, and printed page numbers stay as they were on each page: if you move or remove pages, number the finished file again with add page numbers.

For a single job there are focused tools: delete pages crosses out pages to remove, extract pages saves a few pages as a new file, and rotate PDF turns pages by odd, even, landscape or portrait. To break a PDF into several files, use split PDF; to join files end to end, combine PDF.

Frequently asked questions

How do I rearrange the pages of a PDF?

Drop the PDF here and drag each page thumbnail to its new place; a colored line shows where it will land. To move several pages together, select them first and drag any one of them. You can also select pages and use Move left and Move right, or press Ctrl and an arrow key. Then click Download.

How do I fix the page order of a double-sided scan?

If you scanned all the fronts, flipped the stack and scanned all the backs, your file runs 1, 3, 5 and then 6, 4, 2. Open More ways to reorder and choose Interleave, backs last-to-first: the pages are put back as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. If the backs came out in normal order, use the other button.

Can I put pages from two PDFs into one, in my own order?

Yes. Load the first PDF, select the page after which the new pages should go (or nothing, to add them at the end), then use Add pages from another PDF. The added pages arrive selected, so you can drag them wherever you like. Each page shows which file it came from.

How do I select several pages at once?

Each click or tap selects or deselects a page. Shift-click selects every page between your last click and this one. You can also type numbers such as 1-3, 8 into Select pages by number, use Select all, or press Shift with the arrow keys.

Does reorganizing change the quality of my PDF?

No. Pages are copied into the new file exactly as they are, so text stays sharp and searchable and images are not recompressed. Rotating only changes the page’s rotation setting, not its contents.

Are bookmarks and links kept?

Links to websites are kept. The bookmarks panel is not carried over, and links inside the document (such as a clickable table of contents) may stop working once pages have moved. Fillable form fields may also stop being fillable.
