How to delete pages from a PDF
- 1
Drop your PDF on the box. Every page appears as a thumbnail.
- 2
Click or tap each page you want to remove: it is crossed out. Click it again to keep it after all.
- 3
Or type page numbers such as 2, 5-7, or mark all odd or even pages at once.
- 4
Click Remove pages. The PDF without them downloads, and your original is left untouched.
Features
Click to cross out
Marked pages are crossed out and faded, so you can see exactly what will go before anything is saved.
Never uploaded
Pages are removed by your browser on your device. Statements, contracts and medical records never leave it.
Odd or even in one click
Scans with a blank back after every page? Mark all even pages at once instead of clicking each one.
Nothing else changes
The pages you keep are copied exactly: text stays searchable and images keep their quality.
Pages people usually remove
| Page | Where it comes from | Quickest way to mark it |
|---|---|---|
| Blank backs | One-sided originals scanned in double-sided mode | Even pages |
| Cover or fax sheets | Scans and faxes saved as PDF | Click page 1 |
| Terms, ads and notices | The last pages of bank and card statements | Type the range, e.g. 5- |
| Duplicate pages | A sheet fed through the scanner twice | Click the extra copy |
| Instructions | Forms whose first pages explain how to fill them in | Type the range, e.g. 1-2 |
Typed numbers add to whatever is already marked, so you can combine them with clicks. Invert swaps marked and unmarked pages, which is handy when you are removing most of a document: mark the few pages to keep, then invert.
A worked example
Say a lender asks for your latest bank statement, and the PDF has 14 pages: page 2 is blank and pages 12 to 14 are terms and conditions. Type 2, 12-14 into Mark pages by number and press Mark. The line above the pages now reads "4 pages marked for removal: 2, 12–14. 10 pages will be left", and those four thumbnails are crossed out. Check them, click Remove 4 pages, and you get statement-pages-removed.pdf with the 10 pages that matter, in their original order.
Before you send the shorter file
- Check the count. The line above the pages lists exactly which pages are marked and how many will be left, so a stray click is easy to spot.
- Keep the original. The download is a new file. For signed agreements, court filings or anything official, keep the complete original as well; a document with pages missing may not be accepted as a full copy.
- Mind the page numbers. Printed numbers and a table of contents won't update themselves. Add fresh numbers with add page numbers if readers rely on them.
- Sideways pages too? Organize pages deletes, rotates and reorders in one go, and can undo each step.
Delete or extract?
Both make a new PDF from some of your pages. Deleting suits a long document where only a few pages need to go: you mark those few. When you only need a handful of pages out of many, such as one statement from a year's worth, it's quicker to extract pages and mark the ones to keep. To cut a PDF into several separate files, use split PDF.
What stays the same
The pages you keep are copied as they are: text stays selectable, links to websites keep working and images aren't recompressed. Like our other page tools, it doesn't carry over the bookmarks panel, and fillable form fields may stop being fillable, so fill in and save a form before removing pages from it. If you need to join the result with other files afterwards, use combine PDF.
Frequently asked questions
How do I delete pages from a PDF without Adobe Acrobat?
Open this page in any browser, drop your PDF on the box, click the pages you want gone and click Remove pages. There is nothing to install or sign up for, and the file is processed on your own device rather than uploaded.
How do I remove blank pages from a scan?
Click each blank page to cross it out. If every second page is blank, which happens when one-sided originals are scanned in double-sided mode, click Even pages to mark them all at once, check the thumbnails, and click Remove pages.
Can I get a deleted page back?
Before you save, click a crossed-out page to keep it, or press Clear to start again. After you save, your original PDF still has every page: the download is a new file, named with -pages-removed at the end, so nothing is lost.
Will the page numbers printed on the pages change?
No. Numbers printed in a header or footer are part of each page, so removing page 3 leaves a jump from 2 to 4, and a table of contents still points to the old numbers. To renumber the result, use add page numbers on the new file.
Does removing pages make the PDF smaller?
Usually. The new file only contains what the remaining pages use, so removing scanned or image-heavy pages saves the most. Removing pages of plain text saves less, because the fonts are still needed by the pages you keep.
Why can’t I delete pages from a protected PDF?
A PDF with an open password or editing restrictions can’t be changed by this tool. Open it in your PDF reader with the password and save or print a copy without protection, then remove pages from that copy.
